Thanksgiving Week, Part 2

We continued our ever-extending Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday with our church’s annual Thanksgiving dinner. Our church is exceptionally blessed to have a classically trained chef provide his expertise and talents to our big events.  This guy grew up with me at church and always wanted to be a chef.  He went off to Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts program after high school.  He then cooked in some very prestigious restaurants in D.C.  He’s now running his own catering business, but still finds time to work these large events at church.

This year, he tested out his newest toy on us.

His 10-foot long, trailer pulled smoker.

Yes, you heard me right in the video. He had extra space, so he put a layer of bacon on the top rack so it would drip down on the turkeys.

The chef and his creation.

A cart full o' goodness

One of the several rooms in which we had people crammed.

And once again, it’s not Thanksgiving without cute kids singing.  J and A’s choir (pre-school and kindergartners) sang as part of the program.  Here’s J practicing with the choir before the big show:

And in the show itself:

Two events down, at least two more to go.

Well, one out of two at school is pretty good….coming in 2nd to dinosaurs is, I guess, understandable.
Then there’s the turkeys. Everything tastes good with bacon, right?
    A good time was had by all…in a packed room…and J & A both sang…..hooray…as did you, I think.

Thanks for sending us the pictures. I wish Doug would move here and start Wednesday night suppers at our church 🙂
